NATIONAL PARKS
Today there are 19 national parks, covering over 3% of South Africa’s total land area. Many of these parks offer a variety of accommodations which makes them perfect to explore the natural beauty from within. The oldest and best-known park is Kruger National Park and was proclaimed in 1898. Together with the Table Mountain National Park they are the most visited tourist attractions.
These parks are managed by SANParks (South African National Parks) and is one of the worlds leading conservation and scientific research bodies. The main reason of these parks is to protect the country’s indigenous plants, animals, landscapes and associated cultural heritage.
